This EP by the Guillemots is my first taster of this fairly new band. I say EP because that's how it is billed, I think correctly, because it is a collection of singles and other material recorded between 20rather than being a collection of songs recorded with an "album" in mind/5(7).

Find album reviews, stream songs, credits and award information for From the Cliffs - Guillemots on AllMusic - This being said, the more traditional indie pop song is what the band does best: "Trains to Brazil" is great, with a driving bass drum, a horn section, various sound effects, and a catchy melody that sticks for a long time. 7/

The two highlights, obviously, are "Trains To Brazil" and "Made-Up Love Song #43". They were the two highlights of Through The Windowpane too, and if you were to release an album that contained every song released in , they'd probably have been highlights on that too. They're both simply perfect pop songs, and by this point I feel like I've run out of ways to talk about how brilliant they are.

As for the title i think i heard it before the london shooting of Jean charles de menezes titled "trains to brazil" on zane lowe's show on radio1, couldn't be sure bout this one tho. either way, wotever it means, it's such a beautiful song to listen to, and strangely uplifting considering its about such a serious subject. Go guillemots!
